The Ecological Centre was established in 1 November, 1988 under the name “Young Technicians’ Station”. As a part of the education system the basic direction of the activity of the Ecological Education Centre is based on development of children’s and teenagers’ ecological education and ecological enlightenment, arranging of leisure hours of pupils, events are carried out regarding fostering patriotism on children, protection of nature of Azerbaijan, as well as its enrichment.

In order to promote verdures of the region marigold flowers and plane tree saplings have been cultivated, 10 000 pieces of marigold flowers and 200 pieces of plane tree bushes were planted in various regions of Shahbuz City.
